The Mazarine Library is a public library, open to readers and visitors from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm (from Monday to Friday during Summer). Exceptional closing days are indicated in the diary.

The library is closed between August 1st and August 15th. 

Self-guided visits to the Library are permitted: free access during opening hours for individual visitors, limited to 5 people per group, identified by means of a "visitor" badge issued by the reception of the Institut de France.Visitors must leave an identity document at the reception desk during the tour. 

The reading room accessed by a 44-step staircase, is not accessible to people with reduced mobility. However, consultation of documents from its collections is possible for people with reduced mobility, who will be welcomed, by appointment, in a designated area.
